Story of the Journey

Quote

I am the eleventh-generation descendant of a legendary Eastern European mystic–founder of a renowned spiritual dynasty.

I am the product of an upbringing steeped in the rich stories of prophets, heroes, and angelic beings passed on in the spoken and written voices of my ancestral tribe.

I’ve carried a profound sense of connection to mythological archetypes in my trots around the globe, treks and deep dives in otherworldly landscapes, and studies of the diverse cultures inhabiting our planet.

These inner and outer expeditions have informed my life’s lessons, which my soul commands me to pass down to my own descendants, through the storytelling medium of art.

At the age of twenty-five, I partook in ancestor-invoking rites in a remote village in the mountains of Southeast Asia, an experience that left me forever altered.

As I crouched in a small hut deep in the forest with a circle of medicine men, my eye was drawn to wall-hanging masks and ritual statuettes.

In the smoky, oh-so-sweet haze of the cooking fire, these images seemed to overflow with primitive life, suspended in a state of artistic effervescence—forbidding in their exotic animism, yet simultaneously comforting in their near-humanness.

Shortly thereafter, I began to paint, and to compose poetry—conjuring on canvas, and with free-flowing wordplay, the spirits, visions, and memories embedded in the fabric of my consciousness.
